How Does it work?
Laser hair removal is a non-evasive procedure using laser technology to target pesky unwanted pigmented hair or other annoyances of hair. Most of the body is eligible for treatment; however, areas of unsafe delivery are typically avoided. Areas such as the eyebrows or regions near eyes are ineligible for treatment due to the higher risk of damage to the eyes. Areas of the body that have tattoos present are not eligible to be treated either as the laser targets the pigment in the ink, and our lasers are not up to the task, nor do we want to destroy artwork.
Recovery
As for recovery time, there is practically none. We recommend for all our patients to avoid the sun or other heat sources for the first 12 hours after treatment to avoid higher risk of reactions. Try to avoid any vigorous workouts, saunas, or tanning beds as they might cause irritation or inflammation. To increase recovery time and results, use topical aloe or recovery skin protectant after the appointment. Within a few days the body will start to push out the damaged hair but do not pick, just exfoliate regularly to clear the residual hairs.
Results
Although laser hair removal effectively delays hair growth for long periods, it usually doesn't result in permanent hair removal. Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed for initial hair removal, and maintenance treatments might be needed as well. Laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair, but it can be successfully used on all skin types.
Risks
Due to the heating of the hair follicles, some redness and inflammation in the treatment area is common but is not of major concern. Sun and heat exposure should be avoided for the first 12 hours after treatment to avoid any inflammation or redness in the treatment area, but application of aloe or other recovery agents to the area may aid in relief.
If you are on any antibiotic regiment, it is recommended to wait one full week prior to your next treatment to avoid any possible hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation.
